Jacalyn Beam
Jacalyn Bilger Beam was born in Pottstown, PA and lived in Chester County until graduation from Owen J. Roberts High School. While in high school, she sold her first paintings to OJR teachers and their friends and then later to Bethlehem Steel Executives and interior designers when she moved to Baltimore. Her resume includes an undergraduate degree from Lebanon Valley College and graduate degrees from Loyola College and the University of Maryland. In 2008 she received the Presidential Award for Leadership from Wilmington University and completed her doctorate. After concentrating on academics for many years, Jacalyn is returning to a life-long love and showing her work again.
Jacalyn’s mediums are oil or watercolor, depending on the subject and mood of the scene. Steeped in a rich Brandywine tradition of focusing on local and natural beauty, her paintings are easy to understand. As one collector commented, “ Your paintings make me feel like I’ve been there. They’re familiar and inviting.”
The artist exhibits at select shows in Washington, D.C., Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Lititz, PA. and Arlington, VA.
Original work and giclees can be purchased locally through Strodes Mill Gallery.
