Richard Bollinger

Born in Delaware County, Richard Bollinger grew up in Lansdowne, PA. He attended art school at the Hussian School of Art in Philadelphia, and began his art career as a commercial artist at a Philadelphia design company in 1969. After freelancing for a few years illustrating children's books, Bollinger took a job as an art director at a small agency in Chester County. There, he experienced his baptism by fire into the commercial world, and began to develop his watercolor style. When his first solo show in 1976 sold out, it provided the springboard for him to switch from commercial arts to fine arts. He began to devote his time and talent to his painting. Working as both illustrator and designer, the artist has received numerous awards for his graphics, which have appeared in local as well as national publications.
